Waldidylle celebrated 100-year-old jubilee ...

Klotzbaude to the detailed chronicle pictures of the jubilee

pictures of the jubilee

In 1900 the "colony" Waldidylle was founded. With the inauguration of the railroad lines to villages Kipsdorf and Altenberg (both are  even today in work) many inhabitants of Dresden had discovered the close Erzgebirge as a greenbelt recreation area for themselves. Thus originated in the first half  of this century a row of summer cottages. But also farmer and woodsman from Falkenhain whose local part is a Waldidylle soon settled.

Still today an inscription tells in the "Klotzbaude ", thus of named after one of the founders of Waldidylle, of this first settlement.

Equally towards the "Erzgebirgsbaude", about many decades one of the leading restaurants stands in the region. Presently renovation-destitute, she allows to anticipate the expert, still, some of the former splendour.

Past houses picturesquely built in the wood one gets to the old-venerable "Falkenhorst", already in the first half of the century one of the first houses on the place. Equally towards the cafe "Zugspitze". Even if one cannot see the highest mountain of Germany from here, nevertheless, an amusing look about the slopes of the Osterzgebirge, until arises down to Dresden. From the "Falkenhorst" the "panoramic way" along the edge of the forest to leads almost to the " old Dresden street ". Always new looks present themselves, e.g., to the mountain "Luchberg" or to the mountain "Geisingberg", both striking basalt hilltops in almost handy nearness.

The immediate post-war history was stamped by a settlement of many new citizens who had nailed up it on account of the chaos of war here, not least the inhabitants of Dresden who had to leave in 1945 her ruined town.

Waldidylle never was on account of his size an independent local authority district, but always belonged to Falkenhain. Here the children also went to school till the 80s - worth seeing the old school in the neighbouring place! Since 1999 both local parts belong to the mountain town Altenberg.

In 2000 the Waldidyller celebrated the hundred-year-old existence of her place. Since this time there is a home association which looks after the history of the place, but also enters actively for the farther development of this settlement.

For completing of the chronicle the members of the local association still search documents from the last hundred years. It has scattered many former  inhabitants of the place today in all world. Some one has to tell certainly still stories which stand with Waldidylle in connection.
